Exclusive interview with California bred and currently residing in Arizona hip hop artist Y-Julz. He gives his take on his journey through life and the ambition to get to the next level in the world of hip hop.

Y-JULZ CEO of Big Check Entertainment. Started rapping at the age of 13! Grew up in the streets of California, born in the Bay Area Raised in East Palo Alto. He was surrounded by a lot of drugs, guns & violence. The rapper was locked up in his teenage years from age 12 to 18. As a 12yr old he survived living in East Palo Alto which was the murder capital in 1992.

Y-Julz’s mom & dad were drug dealers & addicted to heroine & crack. It caused him to be involved in a lot of gang activity being from Clark St. in his hood of the Vill! He caught a gun charge at the age of 15 for robbery and faced 10yrs in California Youth Authority, but ended up getting sent to Arizona Boys Ranch for 3yrs. That’s how he ended up in Arizona & been out there ever since. Met Richie in college & started doing shows in Safford while on a full ride college football scholarship. He went to Prison in 2013 & been out since 2020. He did 7yrs but between 2000 to 2009 and was recording tracks doing little local shows in the valley & all over the Navajo Nation on the Rez.
