Kanye Says Drake Rejected “Bully” Intro But Still Wants Joint Album

Kanye West and Drake’s complicated relationship has been filled with highs, lows, and unexpected twists. Their last major collaboration came during the 2021 “Free Larry Hoover” benefit concert, but their history spans over a decade of both partnership and rivalry.

During a recent livestream with DJ Akademiks, Ye revealed that he had reached out to Drake with the intro track for his latest album, Bully, but was turned down. Despite the rejection, Kanye remains optimistic about the possibility of a joint album with the Toronto rapper before their careers come to an end.

“You know I sent ‘Preacher Man’ off Bully, the intro, to Drake first?” Kanye shared. When Akademiks asked about Drake’s response, Ye explained, “He just, like, he said something like, ‘Aw man, I don’t mean to spoil your dreams’ or some s**t. I don’t know, he just did his thing. I think before it’s all said and done, I’ll do an album on him.”

Kanye West & Drake: A History of Collaboration and Conflict

The tension between Kanye West and Drake can be traced back to 2011, when Drake’s rising dominance in hip-hop coincided with Ye’s decision to team up with Jay-Z for Watch the Throne. Over the years, their dynamic fluctuated between friendly competition and outright hostility, culminating in major conflicts—most notably during Drake’s feud with Pusha T in 2018.

Their rivalry escalated again in 2021, with the release of Donda and Certified Lover Boy, as both artists took subliminal shots at each other. Additionally, rumors involving Drake and Kim Kardashian only added fuel to the fire. However, in recent months, Kanye has seemingly shifted his stance, expressing support for Drake—though some might interpret it as backhanded—amid his criticism of the industry, particularly regarding Universal Music Group’s alleged favoritism toward Kendrick Lamar.

With so many twists in their saga, could a reconciliation and joint project actually happen? Or is the idea of Drake jumping on Bully more far-fetched than ever?
