Joycelyn Savage’s Family Criticizes R. Kelly’s Efforts for Presidential Pardon

R. Kelly’s legal team is preparing to submit new evidence later this week in an effort to overturn his conviction. Meanwhile, Joycelyn Savage’s family has publicly expressed their opposition, asserting that he should serve his 31-year prison sentence.

In a recent interview with TMZ, Savage’s family attorney Gerald Griggs stated they are unhappy with Kelly’s latest attempt to gain freedom. He claims that Kelly still appears to have influence over Savage, noting that they have not heard directly from her since 2019. Instead, their communication has come through third parties claiming to represent her.

Kelly’s attorney, Beau Brindley, responded to questions about Savage’s situation, saying they are focused on their client’s case and not discussing her at this time. He emphasized their confidence that Kelly’s upcoming motion will reveal the truth, stating, “There will be no jurisdictional refuge from that motion and the truth it will uncover.”

R. Kelly Overdose and Prison Conditions

The family’s comments come shortly after reports emerged that R. Kelly allegedly overdosed in prison. It is claimed he was placed in solitary confinement earlier this month, and last week, authorities increased his medication dosage. Kelly reportedly became very ill and was hospitalized.

Brindley stated, “Within two days of his motion being filed, Bureau of Prisons officials administered an excessive dose of medication that led to his overdose, putting his life in danger. They gave him a dose that could have been fatal.”

Additionally, Kelly’s legal team filed an emergency motion last week, demanding his immediate release. In this motion, they claimed that authorities had offered to release a terminally ill Aryan Brotherhood gang leader in exchange for Kelly’s killing.
