Reasonable Doubt (TV Series, 2022)

It’s a legal drama centering on “Jax Stewart” (played by Emayatzy Corinealdi), a high-powered attorney with unconventional ethics, who bends the law in her favor to defend her clients. The show explores complex legal cases, morality, and Jax’s struggles in her personal life.

During an interview with Angie Martinez, Corinealdi revealed that “Reasonable Doubt” is an homage to JAY-Z and each episode is named after a different Hov song. It is unique that it is only one of a very select few shows that actually features JAY-Z’s music due to him owning the masters and having control over licensing.

Reasonable Doubt (Jay-Z’s Debut Album)

Released on June 25, 1996, Reasonable Doubt is widely considered one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time. It showcased Jay-Z’s lyrical ability, blending themes of hustling, street life, and aspirations for success. This album set the foundation for his illustrious career.

Jay-Z’s Team Says Reasonable Doubt Rights Will Go to Him

Currently, Roc-A-Fella owns the copyright to Reasonable Doubt and all of its songs. Jay-Z’s lawyers previously filed a notice claiming these rights would revert back to their original owner, Shawn Carter (a.k.a. Jay-Z), in the year 2031. After the news broke, Dame hopped on Instagram to try and sweeten the deal. He said whoever made a $10 million bid on his shares of Roc-A-Fella Records would also receive a Roc-A-Fella chain.

Dame Dash posted online disputing reports from media outlets like TMZ. “Everyone that took the time to repost TMZ, Earn Your Leisure, Breakfast Club, whoever else was talking it, please correct your statement and repost this and let it be known that Reasonable Doubt, the rights stay with Roc-A-Fella Inc for the next 100 years.”
