Dr. Dre Alleges Divorce Counselor Sabotaged Relationship With His Son
Dr. Dre Accuses Divorce Counselor of Sabotaging His Relationship with His Son
Earlier this week, Dr. Dre found himself facing a $10 million lawsuit from his former psychiatrist, Dr. Charles Sophy, who worked with Dre and his ex-wife, Nicole Young, during their 2021 divorce. Unfortunately, the situation has since turned hostile, with Sophy accusing Dre of subjecting him to threats and harassment.
Sophy claims that instead of using the mediation process as a way to heal, Dre turned his frustrations toward him. According to Sophy’s attorney, Christopher Frost, Dre launched a “nearly year-long campaign” of late-night texts, threats of violence, and homophobic remarks. “Rather than treating the mediation process as an opportunity for healing, he decided to take his frustrations out on Dr. Sophy,” Frost told Billboard.
In response, Dre is now pushing back. TMZ reports that Dre’s lawyer, Howard King, sent a letter in February 2023 accusing Sophy of malpractice. King claims that Sophy attempted to sabotage Dre’s relationship with his son by “slandering” him and turning the son against his father. King argues that this was allegedly done to give Nicole Young an advantage in the divorce proceedings.
On top of seeking $10 million in damages, Sophy is also requesting a restraining order against Dr. Dre, citing Dre’s alleged “history of violence and abuse.” The lawsuit even includes a bizarre accusation that Dre once sent fake FBI agents to Sophy’s home to intimidate him and threaten his safety.
