Courtroom Sketch of Rihanna At A$AP Rocky’s Trial Unveiled
Rihanna is standing by A$AP Rocky as he faces trial for the 2021 shooting of A$AP Relli.
The global superstar was present in court to support her partner, though official photographs from inside the courtroom have not surfaced. However, renowned courtroom illustrator Mona Edwards has captured the moment in detailed sketches. While cameras are allowed in court, photographing or recording the gallery remains strictly prohibited.
The illustrations, shared on X on Thursday (Jan. 30), depict Rihanna sitting behind Rocky with a serious expression. Rolling Stone reporter Nancy Dillon noted that she was seated next to Rocky’s mother and sister.

Rihanna’s courtroom appearance likely meant she witnessed the heated exchange between Relli and Rocky’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, that same day. The tension escalated when Tacopina presented one of Relli’s Instagram posts to the jury, prompting an emotional reaction from the alleged victim.
“Why are you showing my Instagram? I’m already getting death threats,” Relli reportedly exclaimed. “People are threatening my daughter—what’s going on here? Because you’re saying I’m an extortionist. You’re putting my whole life out there… This is getting really annoying. What does this have to do with the case?”
The drama intensified when Relli turned directly to Rocky and blurted out, “You did it yourself.”
Rocky, who previously declined a plea deal, could face a prison sentence of 10 to 12 years if convicted. Initially, reports suggested Rihanna would not be attending his legal proceedings, but she has since shown her support.
Her presence in court follows recent confusion over the couple’s marital status. During pre-trial proceedings, Judge Mark S. Arnold inquired about their relationship, prompting Rocky’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, to clarify, “She’s his common-law wife, Your Honor. Or just ‘wife.’” The prosecution objected, stating that unless they were legally married, she should be referred to as his significant other or the mother of his children.
Despite Tacopina’s insistence on their common-law status, Judge Arnold ultimately ruled, “If they are not legally married, she is his significant other.”
