Beyonce Speaks On Red Carpets & Retirement From Music

Beyonce gives glimpse into her current mindset.

In an interview with GQ Magazine, Beyoncé discussed her reputation as a perfectionist and the pressures that come with it. When asked if the drive to be perfect ever becomes overwhelming, she shared, “I create at my own pace, focusing on projects that I hope will resonate with others. I want my work to inspire people to look inward and embrace their own creativity, strength, and resilience.”

Beyoncé explained that it’s not perfectionism but fame that often feels confining. “I’m not fixated on being perfect. I’m focused on growth, innovation, and changing perceptions,” she said. “Working on the music for Cowboy Carter and launching new projects felt liberating, not burdensome. It’s the fame that can sometimes feel like a prison. That’s why you don’t see me on red carpets or in the spotlight until I have something meaningful to share.”

YEARS OF WORKING IN SHOWBIZ

Reflecting on her years of hard work, Beyoncé emphasized the importance of personal happiness. “There aren’t many of us from the late ’90s who were taught to prioritize mental health,” she noted. “Now, I work smarter. For me, the greatest reward is personal joy. I ask myself: Has my work inspired others to think freely and believe in the impossible? If the answer is yes, that’s the real gift.”

As for why fans didn’t get any music videos for her album *Renaissance*, Beyoncé explained that she didn’t want the visuals to overshadow the music. “The music is rich with history and complex instrumentation. It takes time to truly digest, research, and appreciate,” she said. “The songs needed room to breathe on their own. Sometimes visuals can distract from the power of the voice and the music itself. After years of hard work and intricate details put into an album that took over four years to create, the music alone is enough.”

THOUGHTS ON RETIREMENT

The iconic artist has earned the right to retire from the business, but the thought process of retirement for her is a unique one. Beyonce stated, “I retired from the formula of the pop star a very long time ago. I stopped focusing on what’s popular, and began focusing on the qualities that get better with time and experience. Good music and strong messages will never retire.”
