Wiz Khalifa Gets Indicted In Romania Over Smoking Weed

Wiz Khalifa faces legal trouble in Romania after being indicted for smoking marijuana during a live performance.

According to Romania-Insider, the Pittsburgh-born rapper was charged by the Constanța Tribunal for illegal drug use after lighting up a joint on stage at the “Beach, Please!” festival in Costinești. The incident, which took place in July, quickly went viral when footage surfaced of Wiz smoking during his set. He was arrested after the performance but was released soon after, though authorities continued their investigation.

In a statement from Romanian Police in July, they confirmed that “Investigations revealed that during a performance at a music festival in the Costinești resort, Constanța County, he possessed more than 18 grams of cannabis (a risk drug) and consumed another quantity of cannabis on stage in the form of a hand-rolled cigarette.”

Recreational marijuana use and possession are illegal in Romania. If convicted, Wiz Khalifa could face a fine or a prison sentence ranging from three months to two years. The penalty could increase to six months to three years if the drug is classified as “high-risk.” Khalifa has not publicly commented on the indictment yet but did issue an apology following his release in the summer.

“Last night’s show was amazing. I didn’t mean to disrespect Romania by lighting up a joint on stage,” Wiz wrote on X. “They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big joint next time.”

Currently, Wiz Khalifa is focusing on raising his newborn daughter and promoting his upcoming project, Kush & Orange Juice 2. He recently released a new single, “Khalifa’s Home,” along with its music video. Watch it below.
