On May 14, 2025, Tory Lanez’s legal team, in collaboration with the nonprofit organization Unite The People, held a press conference in Los Angeles to present new evidence related to Lanez’s 2020 shooting conviction involving Megan Thee Stallion. The press conference aimed to shed light on the case and provide updates on Lanez’s condition after the attack. While specific details of the new evidence were not disclosed during the briefing, the legal team emphasized their commitment to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice is served. They also addressed concerns about Lanez’s safety and well-being in prison, assuring the public that he is recovering and in stable condition.
Tory Lanez is currently serving a 10-year sentence at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi for the shooting incident involving Megan Thee Stallion. The recent stabbing incident has raised questions about inmate safety and the conditions within the facility. Authorities are investigating the attack, and Lanez’s legal team is closely monitoring the situation.
SONSTAR PETERSON SPEAKS ON INCIDENT
Sonstar recounted the harrowing experience, stating that Tory was in severe distress after the attack. He described how his son struggled to breathe and speak, prompting immediate medical intervention. “All he knows is that he couldn’t breathe. He could hardly speak,” Sonstar shared. Recognizing the urgency, prison officials decided to airlift Tory to a hospital, where he received critical care. Sonstar expressed profound gratitude to the attending medical staff, saying, “I want to report to you that I am very thankful to all of the attending nurses, doctors in that facility. They have done an amazing job in their professional capacity.”
The press conference also addressed new evidence presented by Tory Lanez’s legal team, asserting that he did not fire the weapon in the 2020 incident involving Megan Thee Stallion. They claim this evidence could exonerate him and are appealing to California Governor Gavin Newsom for intervention according to LA Fox News.

Attorney Walter Roberts added: “[Harris] fired at [Megan] three times. Mr. Peterson grabbed her arm and knocked it down, and the gun fired two more times. In essence, Mr. Peterson never shot anybody. Never even touched that gun. He never fired the gun. This statement aligns with the statement of the only non-party witness to the case, Mr. Sean Kelly, who at trial testified he saw two women fighting… There were three potential suspects in the car that night. And yet the only DNA sample was taken of Mr. Peterson, even though unknown DNA was found on the gun.”
As the case continues to unfold, Lanez’s legal representatives have indicated that they will release more information regarding the new evidence in the coming weeks. They are hopeful that this evidence will provide a clearer understanding of the events surrounding the 2020 incident and potentially impact Lanez’s ongoing appeals process.
The press conference marks a significant moment in Lanez’s legal journey, highlighting the complexities of the case and the ongoing efforts to seek justice. The public and media are closely watching for further developments as the legal team prepares to present their findings.
