Tory Lanez Allegedly Pepper-Sprayed During Prison Riot

A viral clip of Tory Lanez recording music from behind bars on February 24 has sparked speculation that he was caught in a prison riot.

Despite what some might claim, prison life is far from glamorous, and this footage of Lanez reinforces that reality. According to AllHipHop, the Toronto rapper and singer was in the middle of laying down a recording for an upcoming project when chaos erupted around him. During a recent prison phone call, he expressed his determination to release new music, citing inspiration from fellow Canadian artists Drake, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and The Weeknd.

“PARTYNEXTDOOR showed his best work of 2025, Drake showed his best work of 2025,” Lanez said. “The Weeknd showed his best work of 2025—now it’s time for me to come out.” His conviction was evident, even as the person on the other end of the call doubted whether he could make it happen, especially after recently losing access to his recording equipment due to a prison raid. However, Lanez remained steadfast in his plans.

Unfortunately, in footage that surfaced on February 24, a riot broke out while he was recording. In the video, Lanez initially tries to continue rapping despite the growing commotion but is ultimately forced to stop as the situation intensifies.

Tory Lanez’s “Prison Tapes” and the Riot Incident

The friend recording the incident zoomed in to capture what was happening, but the grainy footage makes it difficult to discern specific details. However, shouting, loud bangs, and what appears to be the use of pepper spray can be heard. At one point, Lanez seemingly stumbles in and out of the frame, suggesting he may have been affected. Coughing is audible in the clip, possibly coming from Lanez himself.

Despite the setback, fans hope this incident won’t hinder his ability to complete his project and silence his skeptics. Lanez has already delivered an impressive catalog of music from behind bars, releasing nine tracks as part of his “Prison Tapes” series, including “Cell 245,” “Wish I Never Met You,” “Shots Come for Free,” and “Know What You Need.” Additionally, his team has been releasing older, previously unheard material under the “Lost Tapes” collection, featuring tracks recorded between 2015 and 2022.

While Lanez remains committed to his craft, this latest development underscores the harsh reality of prison life, reinforcing the challenges he faces in continuing his music career from behind bars.
