Top5 Believes Megan Thee Stallion Lied On “Brother” Tory Lanez

Tory Lanez has been incarcerated for over a year following his conviction for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. However, some, including fellow Canadian artist Top5, continue to assert his innocence.

Recently released from prison, Top5 took to Instagram to accuse Megan of falsely accusing Lanez. “The fact you lied on my brother and put him away from his family is so evil,” Top5 wrote, tagging Megan Thee Stallion and using a derogatory term to refer to her.

Despite Lanez’s conviction, the case remains a hot topic. On November 3, Lanez trended on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), as users discussed a recorded jail call in which Lanez reportedly admitted to the shooting. Yet, much of the conversation also centered around Megan’s admission in the Amazon documentary Megan: In Her Words that she had initially lied to CBS anchor Gayle King about her sexual relationship with Lanez.

Yes, I lied to Gayle King,” Megan candidly stated in the documentary. She explained that she was caught off guard by the question, expecting the interview to focus solely on the shooting. “Even if I did sleep with him, it shouldn’t matter. Why are we not talking about the shooting?” Megan emphasized, expressing frustration over the shift in focus away from the violence she endured.

MEGAN THE VILLAIN?

Megan shared that the scrutiny of her personal life and sexual history had deeply affected her confidence. “I used to be so confident in myself. Now, I second-guess everything because of how they’ve tried to villainize me.”

The 2020 shooting incident occurred after a Hollywood party, where an argument in an SUV escalated, leading to Lanez shooting Megan as she attempted to leave the vehicle. Lanez was found guilty of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

While Lanez’s conviction stands, the case continues to spark debate and draw attention, highlighting ongoing tensions and differing perspectives within the hip-hop community and beyond.
