Steve Harvey‘s life story is headed to the big screen! A biopic chronicling the legendary comedian and TV host’s career and pivotal life moments is currently in development by Objectively Good Media, according to Deadline.

The project will be produced by Mohamed Kheir and Matthew R. Cooper from Objectively Good Media, alongside Steve Harvey and Thabiti Stephens, Chief Strategy Officer of Steve Harvey Global, under Harvey’s East 112 production company. At this time, no writer has been attached to the biopic.

APOLLO PERFORMANCE

The film will spotlight a transformative 72-hour period before one of Harvey’s most critical performances at the Apollo Theater in 1993. It aims to give an honest look at the challenges and perseverance that defined Harvey’s rise in the entertainment industry.

Harvey, who left a stable sales job at 26 to pursue comedy, faced numerous obstacles on his journey. By the time he was 36, he was battling self-doubt and personal struggles as he prepared for this make-or-break moment in his career.

OBJECTIVELY GOOD MEDIA PRODUCTION

According to the publication, the concept for the biopic originated with Objectively Good Media, who approached Harvey and East 112 with the idea. Harvey shared that he had long been hesitant about making a film about his life but was convinced by Seventy-Two’s pitch, which centers on the toughest moments in his career and serves as a testament that “hope” is never truly lost. “Wait until you see what we do with this,” he teased.

Kheir expressed his excitement about the project, saying, “It’s been an honor to have the opportunity to tell Steve Harvey’s story. His ability to turn setbacks into success is inspiring, and Seventy-Two will highlight the resilience and determination that defined those crucial days.
