Snoop Dogg Reflects Apologizing to Kendrick Lamar Over Drake

Snoop Dogg recently revealed that he reached out to Kendrick Lamar after unknowingly upsetting him by sharing Drake’s “Taylor Made Freestyle” diss track on social media. Lamar alluded to the incident in his new GNX album track, wacced out murals, where he rapped:

“Snoop posted ‘Taylor Made.’
I prayed it was the edibles.
I couldn’t believe it, it was only right for me to let it go.”

In a conversation with Bootleg Kev, Snoop explained how the situation unfolded and the steps he took to address it.

Snoop Dogg on Owning His Mistake

Bootleg Kev opened the discussion by referencing a post Snoop shared about Lamar’s new album, where Snoop wrote, “K Dot new album GNX [fire emojis]. It was the edibles. West West King.” Snoop elaborated:

“That’s my nephew, man. He’s a rapper. He’s supposed to speak his mind and tell his truth. That’s the way he felt, and he had every right to say that. I’m his big homeboy, so I have to accept his perspective because he’s speaking truth. And truth shouldn’t hurt—it should make you better. When truth comes directly to me, I take it in stride. My nephew felt I shouldn’t have played that track, and I get it. ‘Damn, I was on them edibles, my n**a. I gotta be more careful. You right, nephew.’”*

Snoop clarified that the repost was unintentional. He said he had reshared a clip about his classic song Gin & Juice without realizing it featured “Taylor Made Freestyle.” Once he heard that Kendrick was upset, Snoop wasted no time apologizing.

“I left him a voice message,” Snoop recalled. “Nephew, it’s Uncle Snoop. I got the message, and I apologize.”

A Mutual Respect Between Legends

Despite the mishap, Snoop emphasized the importance of his relationship with Lamar. He described the exchange as a moment of growth and mutual respect.

Lamar’s Other Mentions on wacced out murals

Snoop Dogg wasn’t the only person mentioned in Kendrick Lamar’s track. The rapper also referenced Lil Wayne’s Super Bowl Halftime Show performance and threw subtle shade at comedian Andrew Schulz—both of which have sparked widespread conversation online.

The situation between Snoop and Lamar, however, serves as a reminder of how even legends can learn and grow together, with respect and understanding at the forefront.
