Shyne Condemns Diddy’s “Repugnant Behavior” Toward Cassie
Shyne has publicly voiced his support for Cassie and condemned Diddy’s violent actions captured in a leaked video showing the rap mogul assaulting his former girlfriend.
On Sunday (May 19), Shyne took to Instagram to denounce Diddy’s violence against Cassie. As the leader of the Opposition in the Belize House of Representatives, Shyne emphasized that violence against women is unacceptable.
“I vehemently denounce the repugnant behavior of Sean Diddy Combs captured on the video in which he is seen physically assaulting Mrs. Cassie Ventura-Fine,” Shyne stated. “There is no place for violence against women anywhere on the planet. As a father of a precious daughter, a global citizen, and the next Prime Minister of Belize, I want absolutely nothing to do with people who engage in this pattern of diabolical behavior. My prayers are with Cassie and all the other victims who have come forward with horrendous allegations against Mr. Combs.”
Last Friday (May 17), CNN released a 2016 video showing Diddy dragging and kicking Cassie outside a Los Angeles hotel elevator. Cassie, who had been staying in the room with Diddy, her then-boyfriend, tried to leave with her belongings while barefoot. Diddy, wearing only a towel, chased after her and attacked her.
Following the video’s release, Diddy issued an apology, acknowledging his unacceptable behavior. “I was f**ked up,” he admitted. “I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video.”
In November, Cassie filed a lawsuit against Diddy, accusing him of rape, violence, and both mental and physical abuse during their decade-long relationship. The court documents included details of the 2016 incident captured in the video.
Shyne and Diddy’s Tumultuous History
Shyne and Diddy’s relationship has been fraught with tension. Diddy signed Shyne to Bad Boy in the late 1990s, leading up to Shyne’s 2000 self-titled debut album. However, their relationship soured following a 1999 shooting incident at Club New York, which significantly impacted Shyne’s career.
On December 27, 1999, Diddy, his then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez, Shyne, and Shyne’s girlfriend Monay Hawkins, were at Club New York when a shooting broke out after an altercation between the Bad Boy crew and Matthew “Scar” Allen. Three people were injured, including Natania Reuben, who was shot in the face and later claimed Diddy was the shooter. Shyne was arrested, charged with the shooting, and served nearly 10 years in prison before his release in 2009. Diddy was also arrested on weapons charges related to the incident.
