Rymir Satterthwaite Still Insists Jay-Z Is His Father Despite Allegations
Jay-Z’s Alleged Son Criticizes Rapper Over Paternity Denial Amid Rape Allegation Controversy
A 31-year-old man claiming to be Jay-Z’s illegitimate son has expressed heartbreak over the rapper’s strong denial of allegations that he fathered him at the age of 16 and sexually assaulted a minor.
Rymir Satterthwaite, who has been seeking confirmation of his paternity for over a decade, criticized Jay-Z’s response to a civil lawsuit filed against him. The lawsuit accuses the rapper, born Shawn Carter, of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl during an MTV Video Music Awards after-party in 2000, with Sean “Diddy” Combs allegedly present.
Jay-Z, now 55, described the claims as part of a “blackmail attempt” and issued a detailed denial, stating his priority has always been to protect children. Satterthwaite, however, remains frustrated by Carter’s dismissal of his paternity claims, saying:
“It is both heartbreaking and frustrating to see Mr. Carter respond to allegations with such deflection and attacks. My late mother, Wanda, was just 16 years old when she became pregnant with me. This is not about greed or spectacle—it’s about uncovering the truth and holding all parties accountable.”
Satterthwaite’s late mother, Wanda, alleged she had a sexual relationship with Jay-Z in 1992, during which she became pregnant. At the time, Jay-Z was 22 years old, and Wanda was also involved with her high school boyfriend, Robert Graves.
Legal Battle Over Paternity
The question of Rymir’s paternity became a legal issue in 2010, two years after Jay-Z’s marriage to Beyoncé. Wanda sought a court order in Pennsylvania to compel both Jay-Z and Graves to take paternity tests. Graves was ruled out as Rymir’s father, but Jay-Z has consistently avoided taking a DNA test, Satterthwaite alleges.
During a pre-trial in 2012 in New Jersey, Jay-Z’s legal team successfully argued that the case should be dismissed due to jurisdictional issues. The court ruled that because Rymir was over 18 at the time, Pennsylvania law prevented further action to establish paternity.
Despite these setbacks, Satterthwaite has continued his legal battle, claiming Jay-Z’s legal team has used procedural tactics to avoid accountability via Daily Mail.
“If Mr. Carter values the ideals of honor and protecting children, as he claims in his statement, he should step forward with transparency. He continues to deflect and avoid,” Satterthwaite said.
Sexual Assault Allegation Denied
Jay-Z is also facing allegations from a woman identified as Jane Doe in legal documents. The lawsuit, initially filed in October against Diddy and later amended to include Jay-Z, accuses him of assaulting Doe during an after-party on September 7, 2000.
In his statement to DailyMail.com, Jay-Z vehemently denied the claims, calling them “deeply hurtful” and a “fabrication.” He expressed concern for his family, especially his eldest daughter, Blue Ivy, 12, saying:
“My only heartbreak is for my family, particularly my daughter, who is at the age where her friends will see these reports and ask questions. I mourn yet another loss of innocence.”
A Decade of Legal Battles
Rymir maintains that Jay-Z’s legal maneuvers have been designed to dodge the truth. Public records have linked the rapper to properties in New Jersey, but his attorneys argued he should not be required to take a DNA test under New Jersey law, citing lack of residence.
Although Satterthwaite has lost multiple legal cases, he continues to advocate for a resolution, insisting his pursuit is about uncovering the truth rather than seeking fame or financial gain.
