Remy Ma’s Son Jayson Scott Arraigned on Murder

Jayson Scott, the 23-year-old son of rapper Remy Ma, was arraigned on Tuesday alongside an accomplice in connection with the 2021 fatal shooting of 47-year-old Darius Guillebeaux in South Jamaica, Queens.

Scott faces a seven-count indictment, including charges of first and second-degree murder, four counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and first-degree reckless endangerment.

ACCOMPLICE RICHARD SWYGERT

His accomplice, Richard Swygert, was also formally charged on Tuesday. Swygert, who was already in custody for the January 1, 2021 murder of 20-year-old Robert Williams outside the Umbrella Hotel in Kew Gardens, is linked to three murders within an eight-month period.

The charges against Scott stem from the alleged shooting of Guillebeaux on June 7, 2021, following a dispute. Swygert, 22, faces charges in the same case. At the time of his arrest, Swygert was already held on a second-degree murder charge for the August 12, 2021, killing of 22-year-old Dominick Malivert, who was shot multiple times at the K-Show Bar in Flushing.

Both Scott and Swygert are being held without bail. If convicted of the top count, Scott faces life in prison without parole, while Swygert faces up to 25 years. Both defendants are scheduled to return to court on July 31.

Remy Ma’s son, Jayson “Jace” Scott, was charged with murder the week prior to his arraignment on June 25.

ABC7 New York reports that the indictment against Scott includes charges of first and second-degree murder, four counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and first-degree reckless endangerment.

Authorities confirm that the shooting occurred on June 7, 2021, in Queens. Police responded to a 911 call reporting a male shot at the intersection of 148 Street and Rockaway Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers found Guillebeaux unconscious and unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest. He was pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.

Swygert, who faces charges of first-degree murder, first-degree reckless endangerment, and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, was already in police custody for a separate 2021 murder.

A statement released after Scott’s arrest emphasized his innocence and Remy Ma’s commitment to proving it. The statement urged respect for the family’s privacy during this challenging time as they work to clear Scott’s name.

Remy Ma herself faced legal troubles in 2008, serving six years of an eight-year sentence for a 2007 shooting in New York. She launched her music career in 1999 as part of the Terror Squad collective, featuring artists like Fat Joe and Big Pun.
