Ray J Says Faith Mad At Him About Revealing 2Pac Lap Story
Ray J finally breaks his silence on seeing Faith Evans on Tupac’s lap.
In an interview with Art Of Dialogue, Ray J speaks about being young and out of place for speaking on what he saw at Death Row Studios as a youth. He explained that he is a different person today and that he didn’t want to make any viral moments that may offend others.
He now says “it probably just looked like here” and admits that Faith Evans is “mad” at him for saying years ago(2008) that he saw her on the lap of Tupac Shakur. Ray J feels he needs to be more positive about his experiences around Can Am Studios and Death Row. He admitted to knowing Tupac and believes it is better to tell more positive stories such as Shakur attending his 18th birthday party and the surprise party at House of Blues.
Ray J said 2 Pac came to his birthday party when he was 18, but Ray J is 43 years old. On January 17 1999 he turned 18, but Tupac died in 1996. Ray J indeed may have cloudy judgment during this interview and that it was more likely it was his 15th birthday party that was attended by the iconic rapper.
Brandy and Ray J presented the award for “Favorite Rap/Hip-hop Artist” to Tupac at the American Music Awards 1997. Today (June 4th) also marks the 28th anniversary of Tupac’s lethal diss song entitled “Hit ‘Em Up” and the irony of this interview snippet being dropped on this day is not overlooked.
“Hit ‘Em Up” intensified the East Coast-West Coast feud and is often cited as a factor that escalated the conflict. 2Pac believed Biggie and his associates were involved in his 1994 shooting at Quad Studios in New York, though this was never proven. It was during this song that Tupac admitted to sleeping with Notorious B.I.G.’s wife.
