Rapper Foolio Fatally Shot in Tampa: Police Investigate Incident
Tampa police are investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of Jacksonville rapper Foolio, whose real name was Charles Jones. The incident occurred early Sunday morning in Tampa, as confirmed by Jones’ lawyer.
Authorities were alerted to the shooting at a hotel in uptown Tampa just before sunrise. Upon arrival, officers discovered two vehicles in the parking lot that had been shot at. Jones was found at the scene and pronounced dead by the Tampa Police Department. Three other individuals involved in the incident are currently in stable condition and receiving treatment at a local hospital.
The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, with police working to identify those responsible.

The 26-year-old rapper was celebrating his birthday the night he was killed, sharing his plans on Instagram with his 1 million followers. He posted a video promoting a pool party Saturday evening, inviting followers to message him for the address. Later, he mentioned that police had “shut us down and kicked us out” of their Airbnb, prompting him to move the celebration to a Holiday Inn, where the fatal shooting took place.
Jones’ lawyer, Lewis Fusco, stated that Jones was ambushed in the hotel’s parking lot.
Just hours before the shooting, Jones posted an Instagram story expressing gratitude for his birthday celebration: “Best birthday everrrr 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞 appreciate everybody who pulled up we turnt up till we couldn’t nomo. We otw to the show now yall pull-up.”

In April, Jones had announced his latest album, “Resurrection,” on social media, mentioning that he had survived “MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS ON MY LIFE.”
Foolio, who had nearly 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify, had been creating music since 2015.
