R. Kelly Reportedly Suffers Overdose in Prison — Attorney Blames Staff for Negligence and Denial of Medical Treatment

Controversial R&B singer R. Kelly is once again making headlines, but this time it’s due to serious health concerns and explosive allegations involving prison staff. According to a new report from Grouchy Greg Watkins of AllHipHop, Kelly allegedly overdosed while in prison last week and was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.

Overdose Followed Motion Alleging Assassination Plot

This latest development comes just days after Kelly’s legal team filed a motion requesting that he be moved to home confinement, citing an alleged murder plot against him. The motion claims white supremacist gangs have targeted the singer within the North Carolina prison where he’s currently serving a 30-year sentence on federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges.

As outlined in the court filings obtained by AllHipHop, R. Kelly was reportedly placed in solitary confinement on June 10th. Two days later, he was allegedly administered a high dose of medication that left him extremely ill, ultimately resulting in a medical emergency.

Legal Team Claims Overdose Was Caused by Staff Negligence

Kelly’s attorney, Beau B. Brindley, accuses Bureau of Prisons officials of administering a dangerously high dose of medication that led to the overdose.

“Within two days of filing the motion, prison officials administered an amount of medication that significantly exceeded a safe dose and caused Mr. Kelly to overdose, putting his life in jeopardy,” Brindley stated.
“They gave him an amount of medicine that could have killed him.”

The singer was hospitalized following the overdose, but Brindley claims the situation worsened after doctors allegedly discovered blood clots in his leg and lungs — conditions requiring urgent treatment. However, according to the attorney, prison officials forcibly removed Kelly from the hospital against medical advice.

“Within an hour, officers with guns came into his hospital room and removed Mr. Kelly,” Brindley said.
“He was denied surgery that could clear life-threatening blood clots in his lungs. This will be confirmed by hospital records — it is undeniable.”

Refusing to Eat and Fearing for His Life

Following the incident, Brindley claims Kelly is now refusing to eat out of fear that he may be drugged or overdosed again. His legal team continues to push for a transfer to home confinement, citing extreme medical negligence and threats to his life.

Whether or not the courts grant this motion remains to be seen, but the allegations made by Kelly’s team are serious and could prompt further scrutiny into the conditions of his imprisonment and the role of federal prison officials.
