R. Kelly’s Attorney Denies Joycelyn Savage’s Video Was AI-Generated: “She’s Very Real, and I Spoke to Her”
June 2025 — R. Kelly’s legal team is hitting back at renewed claims from Joycelyn Savage’s parents, who allege that her recent video in support of the incarcerated singer may have been generated using artificial intelligence.
On Monday, Joycelyn Savage released a rare video message in which she reaffirmed her decade-long relationship with R. Kelly, stating she has been visiting him every weekend for the past six years while he serves his sentence.
“I am not a victim,” Savage said in the video. “I’ve been with Robert for 10 years. He has been incarcerated for six years, and I have seen him every weekend for the past six years.”
Savage also addressed the ongoing concerns from her parents, urging viewers to disregard their public claims:
“Please do not believe the lies that my mother and father are coming out here saying about me and Robert. I am not held against my will. I am not a sex slave. I am not brainwashed or any of those crazy lies that were told on me.”
Following the video’s release, Joycelyn’s parents expressed doubts about its authenticity. In a statement to the press, her mother claimed the video raised “serious concerns” and “appears to be AI-generated.” The family has not seen their daughter in person in over six years, and they say their primary concern is her well-being—even if she chooses to distance herself from them.

In response, R. Kelly’s attorney Beau Brindley strongly rejected the parents’ accusations in a statement to TMZ. “This is completely false,” Brindley stated, calling the parents’ theory “grasping at straws.” He emphasized that he personally spoke with Joycelyn before she filmed the video and revealed that she is currently living in an apartment near the prison to remain close to Kelly.
“This is not a deepfake,” Brindley insisted. “Joycelyn is very real, very committed, and has full agency in her decisions.”
R. Kelly is currently serving concurrent sentences of 30 years and 20 years following his convictions for racketeering and sex trafficking in New York, and child pornography charges in Chicago—both stemming from decades of disturbing allegations involving underage girls and coercion.
The debate over Joycelyn Savage’s well-being has been a public flashpoint throughout Kelly’s legal saga, with her family persistently raising concerns and Savage continuing to defend her relationship with the embattled singer.
As the video continues to circulate online, it reignites the polarizing narrative surrounding R. Kelly’s supporters—and the lingering questions about control, consent, and truth in one of the most controversial celebrity cases of the 21st century.
