Quincy Jones Cause Of Death Confirmed
Quincy Jones passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer, as reported by TMZ, which obtained his death certificate from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. The document officially confirmed the illness as the cause of his passing.
Jones’ publicist, Arnold Robinson, first shared the news on November 4, expressing the family’s deep sorrow. “Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing,” Robinson said in a statement. “While this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the extraordinary life he lived and know there will never be another like him.”
Tributes from celebrities have since poured in to honor Jones. His daughter, actress Rashida Jones, remembered him as a “giant,” an “icon,” a “culture shifter,” and a “genius” on Instagram. She shared, “I was fortunate enough to experience this love up close. I’ll miss his hugs, kisses, devotion, and advice. Daddy, it’s an honor to be your daughter. Your love lives forever.” LL Cool J, Ice-T, and many others have also publicly honored him.
Throughout his legendary career, Jones collaborated with some of the biggest names in music, including Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, and Ella Fitzgerald, winning an astounding 28 Grammy Awards. With Jackson, he produced iconic albums like Off the Wall and Thriller. He also orchestrated the recording of “We Are the World” in 1985 with a lineup of stars, raising funds to help combat the 1983–1985 famine in Ethiopia. The song went on to become the eighth-best-selling single of all time.
