Paris Jackson vs. Michael Jackson Estate: New Filing Accuses John Branca as Family Tensions Rise
Paris Jackson Challenges Michael Jackson Estate Executor John Branca in New Filing
New accusations revive years of tension between the Jackson family and the executors controlling the King of Pop’s estate.
Paris Jackson Files New Objection Against Estate Executors
Paris Jackson has intensified her legal fight with the executors of her father’s estate, filing a new objection that accuses longtime attorney John Branca of using his influential position to “enrich and aggrandize himself.”
The filing marks another chapter in a conflict that has steadily grown between members of the Jackson family and the team managing
Michael Jackson’s multimillion-dollar estate.
Allegations of Excessive Payments and Questionable Creative Control
According to legal documents viewed by The Independent, Paris alleges that Branca’s law firm received more than $10 million in 2021—over twice as much as any Jackson family member reportedly obtained that year from the family allowance.
She also challenges Branca’s role as executive producer on the upcoming biopic Michael, noting that he has never before held such a position on a dramatic feature film. The filing questions why Miles Teller, the only A-list actor in the production, was cast specifically to portray Branca.
The filing states: “It appears that Mr. Branca used his position as an Executive Producer… to cast Miles Teller to play himself,” and argues that the estate chose to fund the film directly instead of licensing the rights to a studio, a decision Paris describes as “peculiar” and potentially unwise financially.
Claims Dismissed but Legal Fight Continues
On November 10, Judge Mitchell L. Beckloff struck down several claims after the estate filed an anti-SLAPP motion, ruling that allegations based on the estate’s own legal filings are protected under California law.
Despite the setback, Paris has not backed down. Her representatives issued a statement asserting:
“This order is limited to minor procedural issues. The pattern of behavior displayed by the executors raises significant red flags.”
Her team confirmed that an updated petition will be filed.
Long History of Tension Between Jackson Family and the Estate
Paris’ objections reflect over a decade of friction between the Jackson family and the estate administrators following Michael Jackson’s death in 2009.
2009 – Will Controversy
After Michael’s death, family members questioned the validity of the 2002 will that appointed Branca and John McClain as executors. Courts ultimately upheld the document.
2010–2012 – Disputes Over Control
The estate made major deals with Sony and others, increasing the estate’s value, but some family members argued they were being shut out.
2012 – Public Feud
Janet, Randy, and Jermaine Jackson accused the estate of manipulating Katherine Jackson.
Public arguments escalated when Paris and her brothers criticized relatives on social media.
2013 – AEG Trial Fractures
Differing strategies during the wrongful death trial revealed deeper divisions over the estate’s decision-making.
2019–2021 – Media Battles
Following Leaving Neverland, family members expressed frustration over how the estate responded to public narratives.
2023–2024 – Renewed Legal Moves
Bigi Jackson and Katherine Jackson opposed certain large-scale business deals, including catalog sales. Paris’ 2025 filings continue this trend of increased scrutiny.
What Comes Next?
With the Michael biopic approaching release and legal challenges mounting, questions about transparency, financial management, and creative control continue to hover over the estate.
Paris Jackson’s latest objections indicate that she intends to keep fighting until she believes her family is treated fairly and Michael’s legacy is managed with integrity.
