Nicki Minaj Unfollows Diddy & Continues Jay Z Feud With Tweet
Nicki Minaj is no stranger to controversy; it’s practically her brand. With a long history of public beefs, she often finds herself at odds with others in the industry. However, she stirred up even more drama recently by targeting JAY-Z, criticizing him for not choosing Lil Wayne as the Halftime Show performer for the next Super Bowl. This bold move backfired as fans and commentators accused her of making the situation all about herself.
Following the backlash, Minaj stepped out of the spotlight and stayed quiet on social media for a while. On September 18, she made a comeback, tweeting lyrics from an old track, “All Things Go,” off her 2014 album The Pinkprint. The song, more melodic and introspective than some of her other hits, feels especially relevant to her current situation. “Lemme make this clear,” she raps, “I’m not difficult, I’m just bout my business. I’m not into fake industry parties and fake agendas.” This could be seen as Minaj drawing a line between her authenticity and what she perceives as the “fake industry” — possibly referring to figures like JAY-Z.

Minaj’s final line in the tweet appears to be deliberate: “Rock with ppl for how they make me feel, not what they give me.” Once again, she’s distinguishing between the people she truly aligns with and those she doesn’t. She’s consistently supported Young Money artists like Drake and Lil Wayne, whom she “rocks with.” The second half of the line might be a response to a viral tweet from Memphis Bleek, who reposted a video of JAY-Z stating that rappers often blame him for not doing enough for them.
By saying she’s not interested in what others “give” her, Minaj seems to push back against Bleek’s implied critique. This subtle response marks a departure from Minaj’s usual approach, as she’s known for directly confronting her critics on Instagram Live or Twitter. Right now, though, she’s dealing with bigger issues. She and her husband were recently accused of avoiding payments on a $500,000 settlement with a security guard, who claimed Minaj threw a shoe at his head after a 2019 concert.
