NBA YoungBoy Reportedly Released Early From Prison

NBA YoungBoy has reportedly been released from prison ahead of schedule after spending nearly a year behind bars.

According to prison records, the rapper, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, was released from a federal correctional facility in Talladega, Alabama, on Monday (March 24). Media personality Akademiks confirmed the news, stating that the 25-year-old artist has returned to Utah, where he will continue to serve house arrest for his federal gun case.

“NBA YoungBoy is home spending time with family. He has a 30-day curfew and must remain at a designated location (NO DOX),” Akademiks shared on X (formerly Twitter). He also teased upcoming performances, adding: “Tour is locked in. YB fans, get ready. Give him some time. More info coming soon.”

Friends, family, and collaborators celebrated YoungBoy’s return. Fellow Never Broke Again member OG 3Three expressed his joy on Instagram, writing, “UHHHHHH OHHHHH MY [green heart emojis] is finally back home #AllGloryToGod no more.” Rich The Kid also shared his excitement on X, posting, “YB FREE !!! [praying hands emoji].”

YoungBoy’s initial release date had been moved up from July to April 26, but the reason for his early release remains unclear.

The Baton Rouge native was arrested last April for allegedly orchestrating a prescription drug fraud scheme in Utah. He later pleaded guilty to identity fraud, forgery, and unlawful pharmacy conduct. Despite these charges, YoungBoy avoided additional prison time and was ordered to pay a $25,000 fine.

His legal troubles also included a prior federal gun case, for which he was sentenced to 27 months in prison as part of a plea deal.

While incarcerated, YoungBoy continued making headlines. He dropped a new album titled More Leaks and was rumored to have been involved in an altercation with another inmate. Birdman’s brother, Terrance “Gangsta” Williams, claimed the rapper attacked a fellow prisoner for shouting out the name of his rival Lil Durk’s OTF crew. Following the alleged incident, YoungBoy was placed in solitary confinement.

However, it seems the altercation did not impact his early release, and fans eagerly await his next steps as he adjusts to life outside prison.
