Michael Jackson’s Nephew Taj Calls Out Billboard Over MJ Disrespect

Taj Jackson, nephew of the late Michael Jackson, has been an outspoken advocate for his uncle’s legacy, frequently challenging media portrayals he deems inaccurate or biased.

In recent years, Taj has specifically criticized Billboard magazine for what he perceives as a diminishing recognition of Michael Jackson’s contributions to music and culture. Kendrick Lamar has been crowned with the most watched Super Bowl half time show, but Taj Jackson states the media only mentioned his uncle’s record until it was barely broken.

Billboard decides that Michael Jackson never existed and completely leaves him out of the Most-Watched Super Bowl Halftime Shows list. Stunts like this is why

is no longer considered a “reputable” or “important” music source in the industry anymore. For far too long mainstream media has been trying to erase or destroy Michael Jackson’s legacy. I will continue to call out their pettiness, prejudice and deliberate lies. I glad more and more people are finally seeing their real agenda now.

The Importance Of Michael Jackson Starting Real Half Time Show

This hasn’t been the first time Taj Jackson has spoken out on the importance of Michael Jackson and the Super Bowl. In a tweet dated January 24, 2023, Taj expressed his discontent with Billboard’s ranking of Super Bowl halftime performances, stating, “Michael Jackson all the way down at number #10 is not only laughable, it’s absolutely insulting. There would be no Super Bowl half-time list without MJ’s performance.

Taj also doesn’t understand why the media never celebrated Michael Jackson’s record number until recently.

Ask yourself why Michael Jackson’s 1993 Super Bowl Halftime viewership record was barely brought up or highlighted by mainstream media in the past. Over 30 years his record stood…And that’s without the help of the internet, social media or streaming numbers. Why does mainstream media have such a hard time given MJ his rightful props unless there’s a negative slant to it?

Taj’s efforts underscore his commitment to challenging narratives he believes are unjust and to ensuring that Michael Jackson’s contributions to music and culture are accurately represented.
