Megan Thee Stallion Documentary Delves On Mental Breakdown After Tory Lanez Shooting

Rap sensation Megan Thee Stallion is opening up for the first time about the emotional toll she faced after the 2020 shooting involving Tory Lanez, revealing how the incident and public pressure led to a mental breakdown.

Megan recently released the trailer for her new documentary In Her Words, which delves into her recovery from the shooting and the challenges of navigating fame during such a tumultuous period.

In one clip from the trailer, Megan Thee Stallion reflects, saying, “I think I really forgot who I was, and when life started getting crazy, I didn’t have [my mother]. That’s when I started getting the backlash. The shooting. The betrayal. I was definitely getting a little too engulfed in social media…I had a real breakdown.”

She continued, “I want people to understand how this affected me. I want people to see how I feel. I’ve been through so much, but I can’t give up.”

The documentary was first announced by Roc Nation and TIME Studios in 2022, but is now set to premiere on October 31 on Amazon Prime Video.

“We are thrilled to work with Roc Nation to share Megan’s story with the world,” said TIME Studios’ co-head of documentary Loren Hammonds in a statement. “Millions know her as an entertainer, but this series will allow her to share her truth like never before.”
