Megan Thee Stallion’s Lawyer Responds to Tory Lanez Clemency Petition

Amid growing calls from political figures to pardon Tory Lanez, Megan Thee Stallion’s attorney, Alex Spiro, has responded with a firm statement highlighting the severity of the case according to XXL.

“This is a violent crime involving an unlicensed firearm used against a defenseless woman who was shot multiple times,” Spiro stated. “The firearm was found loaded and ready to fire at the defendant’s feet. Multiple witnesses identified him as the shooter, and the defendant himself apologized for his actions. Instead of prioritizing the survivor and the evidence, these politicians chose to seek attention.”

Political Figures Rally Behind Tory Lanez

Tory Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, was convicted in December 2022 for shooting Megan Thee Stallion and is currently serving a 10-year sentence. Recently, former New Jersey Assemblyman Jamel Holley and former NFL player and White House appointee Jack Brewer have publicly supported a clemency bid.

On July 3, Holley submitted a formal petition to California Governor Gavin Newsom, writing, “I humbly implore you to exercise your authority to grant clemency, correcting a grave injustice and safeguarding a life. Mr. Peterson’s conviction rests on unstable foundations.”

Jack Brewer echoed this sentiment in a post shared on X: “As an advocate for 2nd Chance Fathers, I can’t stay silent about Tory Lanez. This is another broken case that points to someone else. Another father lost to a system that rewards headlines over truth.”

U.S. Representative Anna Paulina Luna also previously urged Gov. Newsom to review Lanez’s case and consider a pardon.

Legal Team Claims New Evidence

In May, following an incident where Lanez was reportedly stabbed 14 times in prison, his legal team held a press conference claiming they had new information that could clear him of wrongdoing. They also launched a petition on Change.org to garner public support and bring more attention to their plea for clemency.

While support for Lanez continues to build among some political circles, Spiro and supporters of Megan Thee Stallion insist that the facts of the case—and the impact on the victim—must remain central in any decision-making process.
