Martin Lawrence Addresses Wearing Dresses On Breakfast Club
Comedian and actor Martin Lawrence recently appeared on The Breakfast Club radio show to discuss his return to stand-up comedy, the possibility of a ‘Blue Streak’ sequel, and his fearless approach to comedy.
In our series of GOAT Black Sitcoms above, we ask the question if Martin produced the greatest black sitcom of all time after our viewers had voted. He speaks about his character being turned up loud compared to his real life persona.
The actor and comedian was also asked about his roles where he portrays woman and tells the cast that he is just doing a job and is secure with his manhood.
WOMEN CHARACTERS MARTIN LAWRENCE HAS PORTRAYED
Martin Lawrence is well known for portraying female characters in his career, with his most iconic role being Big Momma in the Big Momma’s House film series. In these films, Lawrence plays FBI agent Malcolm Turner, who goes undercover disguised as an elderly woman named Hattie Mae Pierce, affectionately known as “Big Momma.” The character is known for her sassy humor, quick wit, and comedic antics, making the franchise a fan favorite.
Aside from Big Momma’s House, Lawrence has also played female roles in his popular ’90s sitcom Martin, where he took on various comedic alter egos. Some of the most notable include:\n\n- Sheneneh Jenkins, a loud and boisterous hairdresser with a unique sense of style and a sharp tongue.
Mama Payne, Martin’s overbearing and tough-as-nails mother who often clashed with his fiancée Gina. Edna Payne, Martin’s grandmother, who was known for her feisty attitude and old-school wisdom. These roles allowed Lawrence to showcase his comedic versatility, blending physical humor with sharp dialogue to create memorable characters.
