She was arrested and charged with fifth-degree assault following a dispute with a housemate, during which she allegedly threw a live tarantula and other objects. This incident led the 3rd Congressional District Republican Party to withdraw their endorsement, stating that Simonetti’s actions did not reflect their values and had embarrassed the party.
Despite the controversy, Simonetti continued her campaign and participated in public forums, where she addressed the incident and maintained her commitment to the race.
