Lydia Harris Sues Death Row Records, Suge Knight, & Snoop Dogg
Lydia Harris, a Houston-area woman, has reignited a legal battle against Death Row Records, Suge Knight, Snoop Dogg, and others, claiming they owe her over $107 million from a 2005 court judgment she says has gone unpaid. Harris filed the lawsuit on March 18, 2025, in Houston federal court, alleging a long-standing conspiracy to evade payment.
According to Harris, she played a pivotal role in launching the iconic Los Angeles label in the early 1990s alongside her then-husband, Michael “Harry-O” Harris. Michael invested $1.5 million in exchange for a 50% ownership stake. However, Harris claims Suge Knight cut them out of the label’s lucrative profits as Death Row Records soared to success with artists like Dr. Dre and Tupac Shakur.

The $107 million judgment originated from a default ruling Harris won in 2005 after suing Knight for fraud. Despite subsequent legal maneuvers, including a 2019 attempt to overturn the ruling, Harris maintains that the judgment remains valid and enforceable. She contends that Knight used his influence to obstruct her efforts to collect the funds.
With Snoop Dogg acquiring Death Row Records in 2022, Harris argues that the label’s evolving ownership should not absolve it of its financial obligations. She is now seeking to hold the current stakeholders accountable, asserting that the company’s success cannot erase her rightful claim.
Neither Snoop Dogg nor Suge Knight has publicly commented on the lawsuit. As legal proceedings unfold, this case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battles over the legacy and financial dealings of one of hip-hop’s most storied record labels.
