Lil Wayne Diss Track Coming For Kendrick Lamar?
Joe Budden Claims Lil Wayne Recorded a Kendrick Lamar Diss After Being Ignored
Will Lil Wayne fare better than Drake?
Last week, Kendrick Lamar shocked the music world by dropping his new album, GNX, without any prior announcement. The surprise release left fans and social media in a frenzy. The project tackles various topics fans have been eager to hear Kendrick’s perspective on, including his upcoming performance at the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show in Louisiana. This high-profile gig, announced back in September, sparked significant controversy as many believed the honor should have gone to New Orleans native Lil Wayne.
Lil Wayne himself expressed his disappointment in the decision. Addressing the backlash online, he revealed his emotional reaction to being passed over. “That hurt, it hurt a lot,” he admitted. “I thought there was nothing better than that spot, on that stage, on that platform. It broke me, but I’m just trying to put myself back together.” Lil Wayne also reacted to Kendrick Lamar about a verse he had on his new album GNX.
KENDRICK LAMAR RESPONSE OVER SUPER BOWL COMMENT
Kendrick, it seems, didn’t take kindly to Wayne’s comments. He addressed the controversy in his track “wacced out murals,” where he reflected on the tension:
“Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud / Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down,” he raps. Later, he adds, “Won the Super Bowl and Nas the only one congratulate me.”
Now, Joe Budden has claimed on his podcast that Lil Wayne tried to confront Kendrick about the lyrics but was met with silence. “I’m hearing that somebody picked up the phone, tried to call and see what the energy was. I’m hearing that Kendrick didn’t answer,” Budden said. “I’m hearing that Wayne went in the booth.”
JOE BUDDEN REVEALS LIL WAYNE BACK IN BOOTH
According to Budden, Lil Wayne’s response may have taken the form of a diss track, though it’s unclear whether the track will ever be released. Budden and his co-hosts debated Wayne’s chances against Kendrick, especially given Kendrick’s current momentum and critical acclaim.
For now, fans are left wondering if and when the alleged diss track will surface, and how this clash of rap titans might unfold.
