Lazy Tee on Representing Alaska, Drake vs. Memphis Bleek, and Yung Miami Defending Diddy
Alaskan rapper Lazy Tee recently spoke with WorldWide Entertainment TV about his rise in the hip hop scene, breaking misconceptions about Alaska, and trending topics shaking the culture right now.
Representing Alaska
Lazy Tee shared how he handles the pressure of representing a region not widely recognized in hip hop:
“Not at all, because when you come out to anywhere else, they’re gonna tell you that you’re exotic… I know it’s just like, I’m trying to put on for this city. But at the same time, it’s like, I ain’t trying to go to jail. I just do enough to let them know that hey, there’s Black people over here too.”
Drake also addressed misconceptions about life in Alaska:
“They think we live in the wilderness. They think we live with polar bears, we wild… Until you actually go to the city and experience that lifestyle for yourself, you won’t know.”
Drake vs. Memphis Bleek
Discussing the recent trending topic of Drake’s Instagram post about rappers “we loved in 2005” giving unsolicited advice, Lazy Tee weighed in on balancing music creation versus media narratives:
“It depends on your focus. If you get in your feelings a lot knowing what type of business this is, you’re in the wrong business. Personally, I don’t care about the fame. I’m trying to just open up that doorway so people know where I’m from.”
Yung Miami Defending Diddy
The discussion then turned to Yung Miami writing a letter to the judge defending Diddy. Lazy Tee shared his perspective:
“Diddy is still Black. At the same time, you never know. Diddy’s been doing that since the ’90s… I’m a different breed. I’d rather sit in a dark and rap to myself, make poetry.”
Final Thoughts
Lazy Tee’s candid take provides insight into what it means to be an up-and-coming artist outside traditional hip hop hubs while staying grounded and focused amidst trending conversations in the culture.
