Keefe D Tupac Trial Documentary

Keefe D, the man accused of playing a key role in the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur, is set to face trial in February 2026—a date that comes after multiple delays in the decades-long case. Behind bars since his arrest in September 2023, Keefe D (real name Duane Davis) has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Documentary in the Works

According to AllHipHop, Keefe D’s legal team is collaborating with filmmaker Richard “RJ” Bond to produce a documentary centered on the high-profile trial. Bond is no stranger to the Tupac story, having previously created the Tupac: Cover Up docuseries, which examined the aftermath of the rapper’s death.

Defense attorneys Michael Pandullo and Robert Draskovich reportedly intend to present every aspect of the case—regardless of whether the verdict ends in conviction or acquittal. Bond has stated that he plans to maintain an unbiased perspective throughout the project.

Background on the Case

Law enforcement alleges that Keefe D orchestrated Tupac’s murder as retaliation after a physical altercation between Tupac and Keefe’s nephew, Orlando Anderson, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on the night of the fatal shooting. Authorities claim Keefe D has made prior admissions about his involvement during interviews and in his memoir, Compton Street Legend—statements his defense team insists were exaggerated for entertainment and book sales.

Keefe D denies being in Las Vegas at the time of the murder and argues that all other individuals allegedly involved are now deceased, leaving him as the sole person facing prosecution.

Why the Trial Was Delayed

Originally expected sooner, the trial was pushed to February 2026 after the defense announced the discovery of new witnesses and evidence they believe could significantly impact the outcome. These developments could either bring long-awaited clarity or further extend the unanswered questions surrounding Tupac’s death.

Nearly three decades later, the case remains one of hip-hop’s most debated mysteries. With the combination of court proceedings and an in-depth documentary, the public may finally get a closer look into one of the most infamous unsolved murders in music history.
