Kamala Harris’ Campaign Runs Over $1 Billion in Defeat to Donald Trump
Kamala Harris‘ presidential campaign marked a significant financial investment for the Democrats but ended in a costly defeat to Donald Trump in the 2024 election.
Reports indicate that Harris’ campaign spent over $1 billion in an attempt to secure the presidency, yet still fell short, losing every swing state to Trump, who is set to return to the White House in January. According to sources cited by Politico’s California bureau chief Christopher Cadelago, the campaign now faces an estimated $20 million debt following an intense spending cycle that proved unsuccessful.
“We spent money in stupid ways because we had a really bad strategy,” a former DNC consultant reportedly told Puck’s Tara Palmeri, as noted by The New Republic. “Instead of acknowledging mistakes or being transparent about flawed voter data and strategy, they shut down their Twitter account and are celebrating each other. We dug ourselves out of a deep hole, but it just wasn’t enough.” Harris’ campaign organized major rallies with high-profile celebrities and invested heavily in media advertising in an attempt to gain momentum in the months leading up to the election.

When the Instagram account The Neighborhood Talk shared the report, many supporters came to Harris’ defense. “She only had 107 days to make her case. She didn’t start on equal ground and didn’t have the benefit of a full year of primary campaigning. She still managed over 71 million votes to his 74 million,” one supporter commented. Another added, “She knew she had to work harder and spend more as a female minority candidate.”
Harris officially conceded the election to Trump on November 6th. Looking toward 2028, she may face a competitive primary race against notable Democratic figures like Pete Buttigieg, Gavin Newsom, Josh Shapiro, and JB Pritzker.
KAMALA HARRIS STILL BECOME PRESIDENT IN 2024?
Jamal Simmons, former communications director for Kamala Harris, recently floated an unexpected scenario in which the vice president could still assume the presidency in 2024: if Joe Biden were to step down according to USA Today.
During a discussion on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday, panelists Scott Jennings, Ashley Allison, and Brad Todd focused on topics such as the release of Israeli hostages in Gaza and Trump’s activities while preparing to take office. Simmons, however, offered a different perspective, suggesting that Biden “could resign the presidency in the next 30 days, allowing Kamala Harris to become president.”
“Joe Biden has been a phenomenal president,” Simmons remarked. “He’s fulfilled so many of the promises he made. There’s one last promise he could deliver on—being a transitional figure.”
There is currently no indication that Biden would consider stepping down before completing his term.
