Jay Z Resurfaced Interview About Signing Rihanna Raises Concerns
Fans show new concern over Jay-Z signing Rihanna interview.
With the complications of the Diddy case bringing reproach to the hip hop industry with his business practices, fans are now going back in time uploading questionable comments from other iconic record executives.
Jay Z is a billionaire today, but he started out as a rapper turned hip hop mogul. He is responsible for the signing of two other billionaires in Kanye West and Rihanna. The youngest female to ever become a self made billionaire got her early start after getting the attention of Jay Z and LA Reid.
In an old interview making the rounds online again, Jay Z can be heard talking about why he signed the teenage artist. “There’s two ways to leave here, either through that door with a signed deal or out that window,” said the legendary Sean Carter. Jay Z also added, “and we’re on the 29th floor.”

RIHANNA DISCOVERED BY JAY-Z IN 2005
Jay-Z played a pivotal role in launching Rihanna’s career by signing her to his record label, Def Jam Recordings, in 2005. At the time, Jay-Z was the president and CEO of Def Jam, and the story of how he signed Rihanna is often recounted as a significant moment in both of their careers.
Rihanna, originally from Barbados, auditioned for Jay-Z when she was just 16 years old. She performed a demo of “Pon de Replay,” which would later become her breakout single. Jay-Z was reportedly so impressed with her talent and potential that he acted quickly to secure her as an artist for Def Jam. There’s a famous story that Jay-Z, fearing she might sign with another label, arranged for her and her team to stay at the label’s office until they finalized the contract.
RIHANNA’S RISE TO STARDOM
This signing was the beginning of Rihanna’s rise to global superstardom. Under Def Jam, Rihanna released her debut album *Music of the Sun* in 2005, which featured “Pon de Replay” as a hit single. She continued to evolve her sound over the years, with Jay-Z’s mentorship playing a significant role in her career development. He also collaborated with her on several occasions, including their hit song “Umbrella” in 2007, which became one of the defining tracks of her career and solidified her status as a major international artist.
Jay-Z’s decision to sign Rihanna has been regarded as one of the most successful moves in his role as a label executive, and their partnership has remained strong throughout her career.

A billion is not “a couple of dollars”
Yeah, people do shit for money. Who would’ve fucking thought the same species who sells 1/3 to 2/3 of their day for 15 dollars an hour would also be okay with sleeping with people for an hour for millions of dollars 😱😱😱
