Houdini Childhood Friend Thirty3 Remembers His Last 48 Hrs
Toronto hip hop artist Thirty3 aka Mr Trenches reminisces on his friend & the impact he made on the city along with Pressa in recent years.
Toronto rapper Houdini was an emerging talent whose life was tragically cut short in 2020.
THE IMPACT OF HOUDINI ON CANADIAN HIP HOP
Before his untimely death, Houdini made significant strides with his 2019 mixtapes *Hou I Am* and *Hou Woulda Thought*, both of which gained widespread popularity. His debut EP, *underGROUND*, solidified his status as a rising star. Houdini’s 2017 track “Late Nights” with Burna Bandz earned gold certification from Music Canada in 2021, a year after his passing. Another standout track, “Levels,” also achieved gold status.
Since then, Houdini’s friends, collaborators, and estate have worked tirelessly to preserve his legacy through a series of posthumous releases. The most anticipated of these is *Hou I’m Meant To Be*, a long-awaited full-length album that has been released on September 20.

*Hou I’m Meant To Be* features 18 tracks and showcases collaborations with many of Houdini’s close musical allies, including fellow Canadian artists Pressa, KILLY, Why G, NorthSideBenji, Tory Lanez, and more. The album also includes contributions from prominent American artists such as Dej Loaf and Fivio Foreign, as well as Toronto’s media platform 6ixbuzz.
The album’s announcement comes alongside the release of a new single, “Do It,” which features Pressa and Fivio Foreign. The track blends elements of both Toronto and New York’s music scenes, combining Pressa’s melodic style with the raw, energetic drill sound that Fivio Foreign brings.
“Do It” offers a glimpse of an album that not only broadens Houdini’s signature sound but also serves as a tribute from the artists who continue to honor his memory. With its impressive lineup and dynamic production, *Hou I’m Meant To Be* promises to be a defining moment in Houdini’s legacy.
