Gene Deal Says Diddy Tried To Take His Own Life in 1991
Gene Deal responds to new release news about Diddy being on watch while he’s in prison.
The former head of security for Bad Boy Records says, “I wasn’t surprised” when he heard about the suicide watch report about his former boss in prison. He continued by saying Diddy might think suicide is a better situation than living the rest of his life in prison.
Deal reminisced about Jeffrey Epstein reports during his stay in prison stating, “He was on suicide watch right?” He followed it up asking “who was watching him when he was committing suicide?.” Gene Deal says “someone wants to kill themselves…..let ’em.”
DIDDY IN 1991
In 1991, Sean Combs, then known as Puff Daddy, was at the very beginning of his journey in the music industry. During this time, he was working as an intern at Uptown Records, a major hip-hop and R&B label in New York City. This internship was pivotal in shaping his career, as it allowed him to gain firsthand experience in the music business and learn the ropes of the industry.
At Uptown Records, Diddy worked under the guidance of music executives like Andre Harrell, who was the founder of the label. He quickly made a name for himself with his work ethic, charisma, and ability to spot talent. By 1991, his responsibilities grew, and he began working as an A&R (Artists and Repertoire) executive, where he was involved in discovering and developing new artists. During this period, he played a significant role in helping develop the careers of artists like Mary J. Blige and Jodeci, who would go on to become major stars in the R&B genre.
Although Diddy would eventually be fired from Uptown Records in 1993, his time there in 1991 laid the groundwork for what would become a hugely successful career in the music industry, eventually leading him to establish his own label, Bad Boy Entertainment, in 1993.
SUICIDAL THOUGHTS IN 1991?
Gene Deal reveals he was going to take his life during this time period because he thought he was going to lose everything to Andre Harrell. “That’s why he was going to take his life,” informs Deal during the interview. The ex Bad Boy security believes that as a man it is very weak to think that and maybe he doesn’t deserve to be alive with that mindset.
“Puff always had a problem listening to people that he thought that was less than him,” says Deal to Art of Dialogue.
