Gavyn Rhone Speaks Out Against Babyface Grammys Disrespect
WorldWide Entertainment TV music news update exclusive.
Babyface mentee, Gavyn Rhone has expressed disappointment with Associated Press’ treatment of the legendary R and B producer. In a press release Rhone stated the following.
“It saddens me to see R and B continuously pushed further into the background. The genre still has a powerful voice, and whether you’re a newcomer or a legend, you deserve to be heard. Babyface was the one who opened doors for me when I first started, and seeing an R and B icon set aside in favor of a new Pop artist only reinforces the ongoing disregard for R and B–as if it has no place in today’s culture dominated by Pop.
Babyface, we salute you and all that you’ve accomplished. As for that insincere apology on the red carpet by the AP–it wasn’t genuine, just an attempt to save face in my eyes.”

Video from the Associated Press’ red carpet coverage of the Los Angeles awards show on Sunday, February 2, circulated on social media following two reporters’ interview with the producer, 65. The 12-time Grammy winner was mid-sentence when he was cut off by the first reporter, Krysta Fauria, as she noticed Roan, 26, walking by.
“Chappell!” Fauria exclaimed in the video, trying to get the “Good Luck, Babe!” singer’s attention. She said her name one more time while colleague Leslie Ambriz looked on.
“You guys want to do that? Go do that,” Babyface could be seen telling the reporters when he noticed the singer behind him.
“So sorry, Babyface. I’m so sorry,” Ambriz told him as he walked away and Roan stepped up to take his place.
AP and reporter apologize to Babyface after interview mishap
The news outlet expressed regret Monday on X.
“We are deeply sorry for cutting our interview with Babyface short on our YouTube livestream of the Grammys red carpet,” AP posted. “We have apologized to him through his representative and to our viewers on the livestream.”

It turns out Babyface had the most aggressive fanbase out of all of them the whole time, we just never knew because nobody ever dared disrespect him 😭

This is primarily because they give out “media credentials” to these big award shows to platforms that have “large numbers” but are not necessarily connected to the actually culture.
Ask a smaller media platform if they can get media credentials to these events.
