Hip-hop icon Fat Joe is grieving the passing of his beloved mother, Marie Del-Carmen Cartagena, who died at the age of 77. The Bronx-born rapper shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, expressing profound sorrow and reflecting on her enduring strength and love.

In his emotional tribute, Fat Joe wrote, “This a real one, rest in peace to the woman who brought me in this world. She didn’t have much but she gave us everything.” He highlighted her selflessness and commitment to family and community, noting that despite his success, she chose to remain in the projects out of love for her neighbor.

Known affectionately as “Ms. Ruby the Terror Squad Queen,” Marie took pride in her son’s career and his close-knit circle, often inquiring about members like Remy Ma, DJ Khaled, and Rich.
