Fabolous & Juvenile Chime In On NFL & Jay-Z Halftime Drama

The controversy surrounding Kendrick Lamar headlining Super Bowl LIX has intensified, with Fabolous and Juvenile weighing in on the situation. Fabolous came to JAY-Z’s defense after the NFL announced Lamar as the headliner for the upcoming Super Bowl in Lil Wayne’s hometown of New Orleans.

During an Instagram Live chat on Monday (September 9), Fabolous addressed the topic, acknowledging that while JAY-Z is often seen as “the face” of the Super Bowl halftime shows, the decision likely involved multiple parties.

“I see people blaming JAY-Z, but I don’t think that’s entirely true,” Fabolous said. “There are a lot of people involved in making those kinds of decisions.”

He continued, “I do think it would have been amazing for Lil Wayne, given everything he’s done for the industry and his importance to New Orleans. It would’ve been a great opportunity. But you never know what’s going on behind the scenes—maybe he’s still involved in some way.”

However, Fabolous also noted that if Lil Wayne was not involved, the decision to announce Kendrick Lamar felt like “a slap in the face” to Wayne.

Juvenile, on the other hand, directed his frustration at the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell, blaming them for the halftime show selection process.

“I’m upset about this just like everybody else,” Juvenile said in an Instagram video. “But my issue is with the NFL, not necessarily the people who booked the halftime show. I’m mad at the people who hired the folks that made those decisions. The NFL needs to step in.”

Juvenile criticized the organizers, saying, “You’ve had 11 Super Bowls in New Orleans, and not once have you put a New Orleans hip-hop act on that stage.”

He continued, questioning, “How have you not had Lil Wayne perform at the halftime show?” Juvenile then called out Roger Goodell directly, urging him to “get it right.”
