Eminem’s Mother, Debbie Mathers, Reportedly Terminally Sick

The mother of rap star Eminem has taken ill.

According to a recent report from In Touch Weekly, Eminem’s mother, Debbie Mathers, has been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. While this story is still developing and lacks official confirmation, an alleged source claims that Debbie’s condition is severe. “There are not many options for Debbie,” the source reportedly told the outlet. “She is currently staying between the cancer center and with family members. She has a very limited amount of time left.” The 69-year-old has reportedly been financially supported by her superstar son, Marshall Mathers (Eminem), for many years, although the two have not been in contact for a long time.

“People around her aren’t even sure if Eminem is aware of what is happening to his mother,” the source claimed. “He’s good to his mom. He makes sure he takes care of her, but they don’t really talk. It would be good for both of them to communicate. This could give them the chance to reconcile.” Eminem and his mother have had a notoriously rocky relationship over the years, often documented in his music and public statements.

PREVIOUS CANCER ISSUE

Sadly, this isn’t Debbie’s first battle with cancer; she previously faced breast cancer. In a 2018 interview with The Village Voice, she spoke about her ongoing health struggles. “I’m still under doctor’s care, which I probably will be for a while,” she said. “A lot of the stuff is hereditary, but that happens—cancers and heart disease and all that, and all the genetic things … I worry about my boys, having high blood pressure and things.”

Despite their tumultuous history, there have been moments of connection between Eminem and his mother. In 2022, Debbie shared a heartfelt message congratulating him on his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “Marshall, I want to say, I could not let this day go by without congratulating you on your induction into the Hall of Fame,” she said. “I love you very much. I knew you’d get there. It’s been a long ride. I’m very, very proud of you. And also, I’m very proud of Hailie Jade, my big girl. Great job on your podcast, and God bless you guys. I love you very much.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with Debbie Mathers and her family during this challenging time.
