D.L. Hughley Faces Backlash After Criticizing Janet Jackson Over Kamala Harris Remarks: ‘You’re Breathing Through the Nose of a White Woman’

D.L. Hughley isn’t holding back when it comes to defending Kamala Harris, even if it means going up against Janet Jackson.

To recap, Janet Jackson recently claimed in an interview that she had heard Kamala Harris’ father was white, despite the fact that Harris has openly shared that her father is Jamaican and her mother is Indian. Although Janet initially seemed to apologize for her comments, her team later clarified that the apology was unauthorized and that the individual who released it is no longer employed by the Grammy-winning artist.

D.L. Hughley has been quite outspoken in expressing his opinion on Janet’s remarks. He first responded with laughter to a fan who mentioned that they “question” Janet’s “singing ability.”

He then went on to compare the appearances of Janet Jackson and Kamala Harris, writing:

“All I know is #Kamala looks like she did when she was in Oakland! But Janet don’t look like she did when she was Penny! What the hell was in that iron??”

When a fan challenged him for criticizing Janet just because he disagreed, D.L. Hughley fired back:

“Hey dumba** this has nothing to do with agreeing or not! Her dad is black as a point of fact!! What she said was just as stupid as the sh*t you’re saying now!!”

Despite standing firm in his viewpoint, D.L. Hughley quickly found himself trending on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Monday morning (Sept. 23), as many fans took to social media to call him out for his comments.
