Diddy Held at Notorious Jail Once Home to R. Kelly & Ghislaine Maxwell

Diddy was denied bail during a court hearing on Tuesday.

“He’s going to clear his name, and we’ll stand by him through it all. We believe in him completely,” said his lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, in a statement captured by CNN. “He came here voluntarily to surrender. Why doesn’t the government want him to do so? Because it undermines their case for detention. He flew in on his own. They arrested a man who showed up to turn himself in.”

Diddy is now being held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, a notorious federal jail that has previously housed high-profile inmates such as R. Kelly, Fetty Wap, Michael Cohen, Allison Mack, and Ghislaine Maxwell, according to TMZ. After the court denied his bail request, he will remain in custody following his arrest on Monday night. He faces charges related to racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, outlined in a 14-page indictment. Agnifilo told reporters that they plan to appeal the court’s decision on bail.

DIDDY OFFERED $50 MILLION

In court, Agnifilo argued that Diddy’s decision to surrender voluntarily and his standing in the community prove that he is not a flight risk. Diddy even offered $50 million and agreed to house arrest in Miami with constant surveillance. However, Judge Robyn Tarnofsky dismissed these assurances, noting, “This is a crime that takes place behind closed doors, even with pretrial services monitoring.”

In a letter to the judge, Diddy’s legal team described the conditions at the Brooklyn detention center as “horrific,” a sentiment echoed in a report by The New York Times. Over the past three years, the facility has seen multiple suicides, reports of food contamination, and other serious issues.
