Diddy Wins February Sexual Assault Lawsuit Dismissal
Diddy Scores Legal Win as February Sexual Assault Lawsuit Dismissed
Sean “Diddy” Combs has scored another legal victory as a February sexual assault lawsuit against him has been dismissed by a New York judge.
The lawsuit, filed earlier this year, involved a John Doe who alleged the incident occurred in 2015 as reported by Hot 97. According to the plaintiff, who claimed to be an aspiring singer at the time, he was developing a professional relationship with Diddy that year. The man alleged that during an afterparty at a Los Angeles nightclub, Diddy offered him the chance to record at Bad Boy Records and even hinted at studio time with Combs himself.
The plaintiff claimed that after drinking a beverage given to him by Diddy, he passed out and later woke to what he described as unwanted sexual contact. Tony Buzbee, the attorney representing the plaintiff, argued in court that the alleged conduct was part of a pattern of behavior by Diddy, asserting that “Sean Combs believed he was above the law.”
DIDDY DENIES ALLEGATIONS
Diddy’s legal team vehemently denied the allegations. The plaintiff had sought an unspecified amount in damages for the alleged physical and emotional distress. However, the case was dismissed because the claim was filed beyond the statute of limitations in New York, even though a 2019 law extended the filing window for sexual assault cases to 20 years. Prior to that change, victims had only five years to bring a claim.
While this dismissal does not impact Diddy’s ongoing legal challenges, it serves as a significant moral victory for the music mogul. Diddy still faces a federal trial scheduled for October 3, where he is charged with two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Legal experts predict he is unlikely to face the maximum sentence of 20 years.
This latest development adds to Diddy’s complex legal history, offering a rare positive outcome amid numerous ongoing cases and allegations.
