Dave Bautista Refutes Claims He “starved” Himself For New Look
WWE ICON SPEAKS ON PHYSICAL TRANSFORMATION
In a recent appearance on “Insight With Chris Van Vliet,” the actor opened up about his 75-pound weight loss. After wrapping up filming for Knock at the Cabin Door, Bautista said he weighed 315 pounds and felt “uncomfortably big” due to rapid weight gain.
At 55, the former professional wrestler turned to intermittent fasting and calorie restriction to shed the weight. He explained that he only eats during a “short window” each day, fasting until 1 p.m. When he does eat, Bautista sticks to a daily intake of around 2,500 calories.
“I’m just not eating much, but I’m not starving,” he clarified, emphasizing that the weight loss took a long time. Bautista also addressed rumors about having an eating disorder.
“People have seen me so much bigger over the years that they think I’m anorexic, but I’m just a large human being,” he explained. “The more I trimmed down, the better I felt. And I noticed I looked better on camera and next to other actors.”
Fans were impressed by his transformation when he appeared at the Toronto International Film Festival, with some praising his healthy approach to losing muscle mass. “The fact that he’s lost muscle in a healthy way is actually a massive accomplishment,” one social media user wrote. Others speculated that Bautista might be using Ozempic, a claim he has neither confirmed nor denied.
In an October 2021 interview with Men’s Health, Bautista shared details of his diet, noting that he avoids certain food groups due to allergies. The former mixed martial artist is “terribly allergic to dairy” and follows a primarily plant-based diet, occasionally eating eggs and fish a couple of times a week. For his fitness routine, Bautista enjoys jiu-jitsu and boxing.
