Charlamagne Tha God Reflects on Personal Trauma Following Kanye West’s “Cousins” Revelation
In a recent episode of The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne Tha God candidly shared his own experiences of sexual trauma in light of Kanye West’s startling confession in his new song, “Cousins.” West’s lyrics detail an incestuous relationship with his cousin during his childhood, a revelation that has stirred both shock and discussion.
Charlamagne initiated the conversation by addressing the potential impact of West’s admission, questioning whether it would encourage others to share their own stories. “No, they’re not. People are not going to start coming out to talk about experiences like that,” he remarked. “I was sexually assaulted at eight by a 20-year-old woman.”
CONVERSATION NEEDED
He went on to emphasize the significance of the topic while critiquing Kanye as the messenger. “This is a conversation we need to have, but I struggle to take it seriously coming from Kanye,” he expressed. “It feels like every week there’s a new headline with him, and it often seems like a publicity stunt.”
In his social media post revealing the song, Kanye wrote, “This song is called COUSINS about my cousin who’s serving life in prison for killing a pregnant woman a few years after I told him we wouldn’t ‘look at dirty magazines together’ anymore.”
He elaborated, “Maybe in my self-centered way, I felt responsible for showing him those magazines when he was six, which led to us acting out what we saw. My dad had Playboy magazines, but the ones I discovered in my mom’s closet were different. My name is Ye, and I engaged in sexual acts with my cousin until I was 14.”

Kanye West is currently in the process of finalizing his new album, “Cuck,” which was previously titled “WW3” before undergoing a name change earlier this week without any explanation. He is collaborating with songwriter Dave Blunts for the project, with Blunts recently revealing that he has penned all the tracks on the album—a detail later confirmed by Kanye on X (formerly Twitter). As of now, there is no official release date for “Cuck.”
