Cardi B Denies Assault Accusation as Civil Trial Continues
Rapper Cardi B is currently facing a civil assault trial in which she is accused of assaulting a security guard in 2018. As the trial’s second day began, the artist, also known as Belcalis Almánzar, firmly denied the allegations, telling reporters outside the courthouse that she “never” touched the accuser, Emani Ellis.

The Allegations
The trial stems from an incident that allegedly occurred in a Beverly Hills medical office. According to Ellis, she was working as a security guard when she saw Cardi B and said, “Wow, that’s Cardi B.” Ellis claims this seemingly innocent remark angered the rapper, who was pregnant with her first child at the time but had not yet made the news public. Ellis testified that Cardi B then assaulted her.
However, Cardi B’s lawyer, Peter Anderson, presented a different version of events in his opening statement. He claimed Ellis was filming the rapper and behaving “belligerently.” Anderson argued that Cardi B was afraid for her and Offset’s unborn child’s safety, stating that Ellis was “hovering over her, yelling and screaming at her, taking swings at her, trying to get to her.” He added that there would be evidence to show that Ellis was the one who shouted threats before someone intervened and escorted her away.

The New Album: “Am I the Drama?”
The trial comes just a few weeks before the release of Cardi B’s highly anticipated second album, “Am I the Drama?” The album is set to drop on September 19 and includes the singles “Outside” and “Imaginary Playerz.”
In a recent interview with Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe, Cardi B revealed that the album title was inspired by her ongoing public tensions with other artists. She explained that she often wonders, “Does drama chase me? Or am I the drama?” She said she believes she has an “anointed light” that attracts people but can also “disturb their peace” and “bother people” because it’s “too bright, it’s too loud.”
.@iamcardib breaks a new record with "Imaginary Players". Cardi B becomes the first female rapper to chart 100% of her studio album catalogue on the Billboard Hot 100.
No female rapper has done this in the history of Hip-Hop.
