Brandy Clarifies Abrupt Exit From Chicago Concert With Monica
Brandy unexpectedly left the stage mid-performance during the Chicago stop of her and Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine” tour on Saturday night (October 18), sparking concern among fans.
According to TMZ, the R&B icon exited midway through her set, leaving Monica to finish the show solo. The following day, Brandy took to social media to explain the situation, revealing that dehydration was the cause of her sudden departure. She assured fans that she would be back on stage for the next scheduled show in Indianapolis on Sunday, October 19.
“Thank you all for the overwhelming love, support, and—most importantly—your prayers,” Brandy wrote. “I sincerely apologize for the abrupt end to last night’s performance in Chicago. After weeks of nonstop rehearsals, I experienced dehydration and feelings of wanting to faint. Everyone involved agreed that prioritizing my well-being was of the utmost importance. I still made the decision to try and return and give it my all despite not feeling OK. With the technical nature of the show, it was unfortunately impossible to fully connect sonically with the production, but I truly appreciate everyone’s best efforts.”

Brandy went on to express gratitude toward Monica for finishing the show and thanked her crew and fans for their understanding. She also confirmed that she sought medical attention and took the necessary precautions before returning to the tour.
“I look forward to returning to the stage—stronger and more grateful than ever—alongside my girl, Monica, tonight in Indianapolis. With all my love, Brandy,” she concluded.
This latest hiccup comes after Monica disclosed that her right vocal cord had become paralyzed just two weeks before the tour began, making the duo’s perseverance all the more admirable.
Touring at such a scale, particularly in a co-headlining setup, can take a serious toll. Still, it’s uplifting to see both Brandy and Monica supporting each other through the challenges. Here’s hoping the rest of “The Boy Is Mine” tour continues smoothly, with no further setbacks.
