Bob Marley’s 80th Birthday Celebrated Around The World
On February 6, 2025, the world commemorates what would have been the 80th birthday of reggae icon Bob Marley. Born in 1945 in Nine Mile, Jamaica, Marley’s profound influence on music and culture remains undiminished decades after his passing.
To honor this milestone, the Marley family, in collaboration with UMe and Island Records, has announced a year-long celebration. The festivities will culminate in an ‘Uprising’ Tribute Concert, streamed live from the family’s Tuff Gong Studios in Kingston, Jamaica. This event will feature performances by both established and emerging Jamaican artists, reflecting Marley’s enduring legacy.
In addition to the concert, a global singalong is planned, uniting fans worldwide in a chorus of Marley’s most beloved songs. This initiative underscores the universal appeal of his music and message.
Reflecting on Marley’s impact, a dedicated fan shared, “Listening to his music has made me a better person,” highlighting the personal and transformative power of his work.
Marley’s children have also been active in preserving and promoting their father’s legacy. Recently, the Marley Brothers embarked on their first tour together in two decades, performing 30 of their father’s songs across 22 cities. This tour not only celebrated Marley’s music but also introduced it to new audiences, ensuring its continued relevance.

I like a lot of his music. I was practically. Raised on his music. He is my music king. My favorite songs are probably turn the lights down low, roots, rock reggae and mystic music
