Birdman Warns Jay-Z To Put Respect On Lil Wayne & YMCB

Birdman Speaks Out on Lil Wayne’s Super Bowl Snub

Cash Money Records is coming to the defense of Lil Wayne after he was overlooked for the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show. Birdman, the co-founder of Cash Money and longtime collaborator of Wayne, has expressed his frustration over the NFL’s decision to have Kendrick Lamar perform instead. On Monday afternoon, Birdman took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice his discontent, writing: “Hatin sh*t 4real.”

Birdman is not alone in his criticism. Nicki Minaj also spoke out in support of Lil Wayne, venting her frustrations on X. “Denying a young black man what he rightfully put into this game for no other reason but your ego,” Minaj wrote. “Your hatred for BIRDMAN, Drake & Nicki got you punishing Lil Wayne?!?!!! LIL WAYNE!!!!!!!!!! THE GOAT?!!!!!!!!!!! Nola what’s good?!!!!!! Eminem stood firm on having 50Cent come out. A white man. Sht sad. House N*R TINGZ. but it’s GOOD FI DEM!!!!!!! No loyalty? Welp. then n**z will keep son’ing you!!!!!”

Cam’ron also weighed in on the issue during a recent episode of his It Is What It Is podcast, suggesting that Wayne’s exclusion may be connected to past conflicts. “It’s not really a secret. Lil Wayne had a problem with somebody before who’s kinda part of the organization running it. This is payback,” he speculated. Master P joined the chorus, advocating for Wayne to be given the opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl.

Kendrick Lamar’s selection as the halftime performer has sparked further tension, particularly with Drake. Lamar appeared to take a subtle jab at Drake when announcing his performance, stating: “You know it’s only one opportunity to win a championship — no round twos.” This comment seemed to reference Drake’s recent Instagram Story, where he teased a “Game 2.”

Birdman’s post and the reactions from other artists highlight ongoing debates about the NFL’s decisions and the recognition of Lil Wayne’s contributions to hip-hop.
